Bible Readings: Joel 1
The name Joel means YHWH is God. This book depicts vividly the power of the most High God. Joel 1:15 “Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.” The message is clear the Heavenly Father through any means could bring destruction. One example mentioned are insects which could bring devastating pestilence to crops. Sometimes we might struggle with insects and not consider that it is a punishment coming from God. Besides this wild fires, shortage of water, and the most common form of punishment an invading army. The sum of it all is that after acknowledging the greatness of God we should be moved to repent with a fast.
