Tis the Mean Season!
The Israelites want no folly,
Navigating through life this week you might have heard, “Happy Holidays”. As if the person saying it celebrates the Feast of Dedication or what they might call Hanukkah. In this society, we are taught from little that this is the season greetings. They say that religion is forbidden in public schools but just like the Greeks they promote their religious ideas and culture to everyone. They even attempt to make a non related, completely opposite belief to seem as if its part of their festivities. At work, the store, and even among family you have to implement the mean season like the winter. During the week of the feast, when they say “Happy Holidays” accustom yourself to say Happy Feast of Dedication or Happy Hanukkah. You will see the face they make! This is how you know they are full of folly. At work when they try to invite you to a “Holiday party”, know and understand that they are talking about a Christmas party. Just look at the decorations and the timing that is held. You might seem as mean but I generally explain to those in the world that we do not celebrate any holiday outside the Bible constantly during this time of the year. Even when they try to “include” you in their festivities or accommodate you according to your faith, I tell them that I do not celebrate with those that do not practice my faith.
If you let them be involved then you will be chained to their traditions. Then you will see the changes like making Hanukkah about a festival of lights when it has nothing to do with that. The menorah would be 8 or 9 candles which is incorrect. Their true intentions always get revealed. 2nd Corinthians 6:14 “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?” Verse 15: “And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” Verse 16: “And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Verse 17: “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,” Verse 18: “And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.”
After this week is over, put on your mean season to keep the wicked outside in the cold. Proverbs 25:23 “The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.”
