One example that is vivid in my mind was when I was told by a brother that the Bible is the white man\u2019s book. Before asking him for any proof of his statement (You just cant allow for someone to make a statement as fact without showing proof! See, <b>1<\/b><sup><b>st<\/b><\/sup><b> Thessalonians 5:21<\/b>). I asked him why then was our people forbidden from reading the Bible during chattel slavery?He had no response. If we were to really examine, it is the same reason that a movie like \u201cThe Birth of a Nation\u201d of 2016 is censored from our people, because it will bring scriptures to light that you never thought existed.<\/span><\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-510-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/vid.12t.co\/birthofanation-clip.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/vid.12t.co\/birthofanation-clip.mp4\">http:\/\/vid.12t.co\/birthofanation-clip.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Georgia;\">I proceeded to tell the brother that the Bible is not the white man\u2019s book instead it is our history. From within the pages of the Holy Scriptures we read together prophecies that spoke of transatlantic slave trade. More importantly, the reason that slavery was brought upon our people. For it is often a question that so called Blacks, Hispanics, and Native Americans Indians ask themselves. Why did these things happen to us or Why do we suffer these things? Our experiences shape us to who we become. At times this builds unfounded bias against what could be beneficial to us.
