{"id":791,"date":"2015-01-10T13:47:06","date_gmt":"2015-01-10T13:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/12tribes.net\/bible\/?p=791"},"modified":"2020-03-07T10:23:27","modified_gmt":"2020-03-07T15:23:27","slug":"jdg19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/12tribes.net\/bible\/jdg19\/","title":{"rendered":"Judges 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"main\">\r\n <div class=\"chapterlabel\"><a name=\"V0\"> 19<\/a><\/div><div class=\"p\">\r\n <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V1\">1\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And it came to pass in those days, when <span class=\"add\">there was<\/span> no king in Israel, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, who took to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V2\">2\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And his concubine played the whore against him, and went away from him unto her father\u2019s house to Bethlehemjudah, and was there four whole months.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V3\">3\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And her husband arose, and went after her, to speak friendly unto her, <span class=\"add\">and<\/span> to bring her again, having his servant with him, and a couple of asses: and she brought him into her father\u2019s house: and when the father of the damsel saw him, he rejoiced to meet him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V4\">4\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And his father in law, the damsel\u2019s father, retained him; and he abode with him three days: so they did eat and drink, and lodged there. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V5\">5\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the damsel\u2019s father said unto his son in law, Comfort thine heart with a morsel of bread, and afterward go your way.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V6\">6\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they sat down, and did eat and drink both of them together: for the damsel\u2019s father had said unto the man, Be content, I pray thee, and tarry all night, and let thine heart be merry.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V7\">7\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when the man rose up to depart, his father in law urged him: therefore he lodged there again.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V8\">8\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he arose early in the morning on the fifth day to depart: and the damsel\u2019s father said, Comfort thine heart, I pray thee. And they tarried until afternoon, and they did eat both of them.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V9\">9\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the damsel\u2019s father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end, lodge here, that thine heart may be merry; and to morrow get you early on your way, that thou mayest go home  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V10\">10\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But the man would not tarry that night, but he rose up and departed, and came over against Jebus, which is Jerusalem; and <span class=\"add\">there were<\/span> with him two asses saddled, his concubine also <span class=\"add\">was<\/span> with him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V11\">11\u00a0<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"add\">And<\/span> when they <span class=\"add\">were<\/span> by Jebus, the day was far spent; and the servant said unto his master, Come, I pray thee, and let us turn in into this city of the Jebusites, and lodge in it.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V12\">12\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And his master said unto him, We will not turn aside hither into the city of a stranger, that <span class=\"add\">is<\/span> not of the children of Israel; we will pass over to Gibeah.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V13\">13\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he said unto his servant, Come, and let us draw near to one of these places to lodge all night, in Gibeah, or in Ramah.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V14\">14\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them <span class=\"add\">when they were<\/span> by Gibeah, which <span class=\"add\">belongeth<\/span> to Benjamin.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V15\">15\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they turned aside thither, to go in <span class=\"add\">and<\/span> to lodge in Gibeah: and when he went in, he sat him down in a street of the city: for <span class=\"add\">there was<\/span> no man that took them into his house to lodging. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V16\">16\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And, behold, there came an old man from his work out of the field at even, which <span class=\"add\">was<\/span> also of mount Ephraim; and he sojourned in Gibeah: but the men of the place <span class=\"add\">were<\/span> Benjamites.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V17\">17\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said, Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V18\">18\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he said unto him, We <span class=\"add\">are<\/span> passing from Bethlehemjudah toward the side of mount Ephraim; from thence <span class=\"add\">am<\/span> I: and I went to Bethlehemjudah, but I <span class=\"add\">am now<\/span> going to the house of the LORD; and there <span class=\"add\">is<\/span> no man that receiveth me to house.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V19\">19\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Yet there is both straw and provender for our asses; and there is bread and wine also for me, and for thy handmaid, and for the young man <span class=\"add\">which is<\/span> with thy servants: <span class=\"add\">there is<\/span> no want of any thing.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V20\">20\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And the old man said, Peace <span class=\"add\">be<\/span> with thee; howsoever <span class=\"add\">let<\/span> all thy wants <span class=\"add\">lie<\/span> upon me; only lodge not in the street.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V21\">21\u00a0<\/a><\/span>So he brought him into his house, and gave provender unto the asses: and they washed their feet, and did eat and drink. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V22\">22\u00a0<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"add\">Now<\/span> as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, <span class=\"add\">and<\/span> beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V23\">23\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And the man, the master of the house, went out unto them, and said unto them, Nay, my brethren, <span class=\"add\">nay,<\/span> I pray you, do not <span class=\"add\">so<\/span> wickedly; seeing that this man is come into mine house, do not this folly.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V24\">24\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Behold, <span class=\"add\">here is<\/span> my daughter a maiden, and his concubine; them I will bring out now, and humble ye them, and do with them what seemeth good unto you: but unto this man do not so vile a thing.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V25\">25\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But the men would not hearken to him: so the man took his concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V26\">26\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Then came the woman in the dawning of the day, and fell down at the door of the man\u2019s house where her lord <span class=\"add\">was,<\/span> till it was light.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V27\">27\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his way: and, behold, the woman his concubine was fallen down <span class=\"add\">at<\/span> the door of the house, and her hands <span class=\"add\">were<\/span> upon the threshold.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V28\">28\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he said unto her, Up, and let us be going. But none answered.
