{"id":2052,"date":"2014-11-03T02:21:01","date_gmt":"2014-11-03T02:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/12tribes.net\/bible\/act18\/"},"modified":"2019-08-07T12:31:28","modified_gmt":"2019-08-07T16:31:28","slug":"act18","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/12tribes.net\/bible\/act18\/","title":{"rendered":"Acts 18"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"main\">\r\n <div class=\"chapterlabel\"><a name=\"V0\"> 18<\/a><\/div><div class=\"p\">\r\n <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V1\">1\u00a0<\/a><\/span>After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth;  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V2\">2\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V3\">3\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them, and wrought: for by their occupation they were tentmakers.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V4\">4\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V5\">5\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when Silas and Timotheus were come from Macedonia, Paul was pressed in the spirit, and testified to the Jews <span class=\"add\">that<\/span> Jesus <span class=\"add\">was<\/span> Christ.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V6\">6\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when they opposed themselves, and blasphemed, he shook <span class=\"add\">his<\/span> raiment, and said unto them, Your blood <span class=\"add\">be<\/span> upon your own heads; I <span class=\"add\">am<\/span> clean: from henceforth I will go unto the Gentiles. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V7\">7\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he departed thence, and entered into a certain <span class=\"add\">man\u2019s<\/span> house, named Justus, <span class=\"add\">one<\/span> that worshipped God, whose house joined hard to the synagogue.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V8\">8\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V9\">9\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Then spake the Lord to Paul in the night by a vision, <span class=\"wj\">Be not afraid, but speak, and hold not thy peace: <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V10\">10\u00a0<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"wj\">For I am with thee, and no man shall set on thee to hurt thee: for I have much people in this city. <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V11\">11\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he continued <span class=\"add\">there<\/span> a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V12\">12\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V13\">13\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Saying, This <span class=\"add\">fellow<\/span> persuadeth men to worship God contrary to the law.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V14\">14\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when Paul was now about to open <span class=\"add\">his<\/span> mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O <span class=\"add\">ye<\/span> Jews, reason would that I should bear with you:  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V15\">15\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But if it be a question of words and names, and <span class=\"add\">of<\/span> your law, look ye <span class=\"add\">to it;<\/span> for I will be no judge of such <span class=\"add\">matters. <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V16\">16\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he drave them from the judgment seat.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V17\">17\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat <span class=\"add\">him<\/span> before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V18\">18\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And Paul <span class=\"add\">after this<\/span> tarried <span class=\"add\">there<\/span> yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn <span class=\"add\">his<\/span> head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V19\">19\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V20\">20\u00a0<\/a><\/span>When they desired <span class=\"add\">him<\/span> to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V21\">21\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V22\">22\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V23\">23\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And after he had spent some time <span class=\"add\">there,<\/span> he departed, and went over <span class=\"add\">all<\/span> the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V24\">24\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, <span class=\"add\">and<\/span> mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V25\">25\u00a0<\/a><\/span>This man was instructed in the way of the Lord;
