And he answered him and said, <span class=\"wj\">Thou sayest <span class=\"add\">it. <\/span><\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V4\">4\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Then said Pilate to the chief priests and <span class=\"add\">to<\/span> the people, I find no fault in this man.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V5\">5\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V6\">6\u00a0<\/a><\/span>When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V7\">7\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod\u2019s jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V8\">8\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long <span class=\"add\">season,<\/span> because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V9\">9\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V10\">10\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V11\">11\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked <span class=\"add\">him,<\/span> and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V12\">12\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V13\">13\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V14\">14\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined <span class=\"add\">him<\/span> before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V15\">15\u00a0<\/a><\/span>No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V16\">16\u00a0<\/a><\/span>I will therefore chastise him, and release <span class=\"add\">him. <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V17\">17\u00a0<\/a><\/span>(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V18\">18\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this <span class=\"add\">man,<\/span> and release unto us Barabbas:  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V19\">19\u00a0<\/a><\/span>(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V20\">20\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V21\">21\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But they cried, saying, Crucify <span class=\"add\">him,<\/span> crucify him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V22\">22\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let <span class=\"add\">him<\/span> go.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V23\">23\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V24\">24\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V25\">25\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V26\">26\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear <span class=\"add\">it<\/span> after Jesus. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V27\">27\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V28\">28\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But Jesus turning unto them said, <span class=\"wj\">Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children. <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V29\">29\u00a0<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"wj\">For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed <span class=\"add\">are<\/span> the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck. <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V30\">30\u00a0<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"wj\">Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us. <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V31\">31\u00a0<\/a><\/span> <span class=\"wj\">For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry? <\/span>  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V32\">32\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And there were also two others, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V33\">33\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V34\">34\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Then said Jesus, <span class=\"wj\">Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.<\/span> And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V35\">35\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided <span class=\"add\">him,<\/span> saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V36\">36\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V37\">37\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V38\">38\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. <\/div><div class=\"p\"> <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V39\">39\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.  <span class=\"verse\"> <a name=\"V40\">40\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
