<\/a>1\u00a0<\/span>My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee. <\/a>2\u00a0<\/span>Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye. <\/a>3\u00a0<\/span>Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart. <\/a>4\u00a0<\/span>Say unto wisdom, Thou art<\/span> my sister; and call understanding thy<\/span> kinswoman: <\/a>5\u00a0<\/span>That they may keep thee from the strange woman, from the stranger which<\/span> flattereth with her words.<\/div>\r\n
<\/a>6\u00a0<\/span>For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, <\/a>7\u00a0<\/span>And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, <\/a>8\u00a0<\/span>Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, <\/a>9\u00a0<\/span>In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night: <\/a>10\u00a0<\/span>And, behold, there met him a woman with<\/span> the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. <\/a>11\u00a0<\/span>(She is<\/span> loud and stubborn; her feet abide not in her house: <\/a>12\u00a0<\/span>Now is she<\/span> without, now in the streets, and lieth in wait at every corner.) <\/a>13\u00a0<\/span>So she caught him, and kissed him, and<\/span> with an impudent face said unto him, <\/a>14\u00a0<\/span> I have<\/span> peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows. <\/a>15\u00a0<\/span>Therefore came I forth to meet thee, diligently to seek thy face, and I have found thee. <\/a>16\u00a0<\/span>I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works,<\/span> with fine linen of Egypt. <\/a>17\u00a0<\/span>I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. <\/a>18\u00a0<\/span>Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. <\/a>19\u00a0<\/span>For the goodman is<\/span> not at home he is gone a long journey: <\/a>20\u00a0<\/span>He hath taken a bag of money with him, and<\/span> will come home at the day appointed. <\/a>21\u00a0<\/span>With her much fair speech she caused him to yield, with the flattering of her lips she forced him. <\/a>22\u00a0<\/span>He goeth after her straightway, as an ox goeth to the slaughter, or as a fool to the correction of the stocks; <\/a>23\u00a0<\/span>Till a dart strike through his liver; as a bird hasteth to the snare, and knoweth not that it is<\/span> for his life.<\/div>\r\n
<\/a>24\u00a0<\/span>Hearken unto me now therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth. <\/a>25\u00a0<\/span>Let not thine heart decline to her ways, go not astray in her paths. <\/a>26\u00a0<\/span>For she hath cast down many wounded: yea, many strong men<\/span> have been slain by her. <\/a>27\u00a0<\/span>Her house is<\/span> the way to hell, going down to the chambers of death.<\/div>\r\n
