Maschil of Asaph. <\/div>
\r\n 1\u00a0<\/a><\/span>O God, why hast thou cast us off for ever? why<\/span> doth thine anger smoke against the sheep of thy pasture? <\/div>
2\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Remember thy congregation, which<\/span> thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which<\/span> thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt. <\/div>
3\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Lift up thy feet unto the perpetual desolations; even<\/span> all that<\/span> the enemy hath done wickedly in the sanctuary. <\/div>
4\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thine enemies roar in the midst of thy congregations; they set up their ensigns for<\/span> signs. <\/div>
5\u00a0<\/a><\/span> A man<\/span> was famous according as he had lifted up axes upon the thick trees. <\/div>
6\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But now they break down the carved work thereof at once with axes and hammers. <\/div>
7\u00a0<\/a><\/span>They have cast fire into thy sanctuary, they have defiled by casting down<\/span> the dwelling place of thy name to the ground. <\/div>
8\u00a0<\/a><\/span>They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land. <\/div>
9\u00a0<\/a><\/span>We see not our signs: there is<\/span> no more any prophet: neither is there<\/span> among us any that knoweth how long. <\/div>
10\u00a0<\/a><\/span>O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever? <\/div>
11\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Why withdrawest thou thy hand, even thy right hand? pluck it<\/span> out of thy bosom. <\/div>
12\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For God is<\/span> my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. <\/div>
13\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thou didst divide the sea by thy strength: thou brakest the heads of the dragons in the waters. <\/div>
14\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thou brakest the heads of leviathan in pieces, and<\/span> gavest him to be<\/span> meat to the people inhabiting the wilderness. <\/div>
15\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers. <\/div>
16\u00a0<\/a><\/span>The day is<\/span> thine, the night also is<\/span> thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun. <\/div>
17\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thou hast set all the borders of the earth: thou hast made summer and winter. <\/div>
18\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Remember this, that<\/span> the enemy hath reproached, O LORD, and that<\/span> the foolish people have blasphemed thy name. <\/div>
19\u00a0<\/a><\/span>O deliver not the soul of thy turtledove unto the multitude of the wicked:<\/span> forget not the congregation of thy poor for ever. <\/div>
20\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty. <\/div>
21\u00a0<\/a><\/span>O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name. <\/div>
22\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Arise, O God, plead thine own cause: remember how the foolish man reproacheth thee daily. <\/div>
23\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Forget not the voice of thine enemies: the tumult of those that rise up against thee increaseth continually. <\/div>
