A Psalm of Asaph. <\/div>
\r\n 1\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Truly God is<\/span> good to Israel, even<\/span> to such as are of a clean heart. <\/div>
2\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped. <\/div>
3\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For I was envious at the foolish, when<\/span> I saw the prosperity of the wicked. <\/div>
4\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For there are<\/span> no bands in their death: but their strength is<\/span> firm. <\/div>
5\u00a0<\/a><\/span>They are<\/span> not in trouble as other<\/span> men; neither are they plagued like other<\/span> men. <\/div>
6\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as<\/span> a garment. <\/div>
7\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish. <\/div>
8\u00a0<\/a><\/span>They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning<\/span> oppression: they speak loftily. <\/div>
9\u00a0<\/a><\/span>They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth. <\/div>
10\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup<\/span> are wrung out to them. <\/div>
11\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High? <\/div>
12\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Behold, these are<\/span> the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in<\/span> riches. <\/div>
13\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Verily I have cleansed my heart in<\/span> vain, and washed my hands in innocency. <\/div>
14\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning. <\/div>
15\u00a0<\/a><\/span>If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against<\/span> the generation of thy children. <\/div>
16\u00a0<\/a><\/span>When I thought to know this, it was<\/span> too painful for me; <\/div>
17\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then<\/span> understood I their end. <\/div>
18\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction. <\/div>
19\u00a0<\/a><\/span>How are they brought<\/span> into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. <\/div>
20\u00a0<\/a><\/span>As a dream when one<\/span> awaketh; so,<\/span> O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image. <\/div>
21\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins. <\/div>
22\u00a0<\/a><\/span>So foolish was<\/span> I, and ignorant: I was as<\/span> a beast before thee. <\/div>
23\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Nevertheless I am<\/span> continually with thee: thou hast holden me<\/span> by my right hand. <\/div>
24\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to<\/span> glory. <\/div>
25\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Whom have I in heaven but thee?<\/span> and there is<\/span> none upon earth that<\/span> I desire beside thee. <\/div>
26\u00a0<\/a><\/span>My flesh and my heart faileth: but<\/span> God is<\/span> the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. <\/div>
27\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee. <\/div>
28\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But it is<\/span> good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works. <\/div>
