A Psalm<\/span> of David. <\/div>
\r\n 1\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Plead my cause,<\/span> O LORD, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me. <\/div>
2\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help. <\/div>
3\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Draw out also the spear, and stop the way<\/span> against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I am<\/span> thy salvation. <\/div>
4\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt. <\/div>
5\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.<\/span> <\/div>
6\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let their way be dark and slippery: and let the angel of the LORD persecute them. <\/div>
7\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For without cause have they hid for me their net in<\/span> a pit, which<\/span> without cause they have digged for my soul. <\/div>
8\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he hath hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall. <\/div>
9\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation. <\/div>
10\u00a0<\/a><\/span>All my bones shall say, LORD, who is<\/span> like unto thee, which deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that spoileth him? <\/div>
11\u00a0<\/a><\/span>False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things<\/span> that I knew not. <\/div>
12\u00a0<\/a><\/span>They rewarded me evil for good to<\/span> the spoiling of my soul. <\/div>
13\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was<\/span> sackcloth: I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom. <\/div>
14\u00a0<\/a><\/span>I behaved myself as though he had been<\/span> my friend or<\/span> brother: I bowed down heavily, as one that mourneth for his<\/span> mother. <\/div>
15\u00a0<\/a><\/span>But in mine adversity they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together: yea,<\/span> the abjects gathered themselves together against me, and I knew it<\/span> not; they did tear me,<\/span> and ceased not: <\/div>
16\u00a0<\/a><\/span>With hypocritical mockers in feasts, they gnashed upon me with their teeth. <\/div>
17\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, my darling from the lions. <\/div>
18\u00a0<\/a><\/span>I will give thee thanks in the great congregation: I will praise thee among much people. <\/div>
19\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let not them that are mine enemies wrongfully rejoice over me: neither<\/span> let them wink with the eye that hate me without a cause. <\/div>
20\u00a0<\/a><\/span>For they speak not peace: but they devise deceitful matters against them that are<\/span> quiet in the land. <\/div>
21\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Yea, they opened their mouth wide against me, and<\/span> said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.<\/span> <\/div>
22\u00a0<\/a><\/span> This<\/span> thou hast seen, O LORD: keep not silence: O Lord, be not far from me. <\/div>
23\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Stir up thyself, and awake to my judgment, even<\/span> unto my cause, my God and my Lord. <\/div>
24\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Judge me, O LORD my God, according to thy righteousness; and let them not rejoice over me. <\/div>
25\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let them not say in their hearts, Ah, so would we have it: let them not say, We have swallowed him up. <\/div>
26\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let them be ashamed and brought to confusion together that rejoice at mine hurt: let them be clothed with shame and dishonour that magnify themselves<\/span> against me. <\/div>
27\u00a0<\/a><\/span>Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. <\/div>
28\u00a0<\/a><\/span>And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and<\/span> of thy praise all the day long. <\/div>
